Last day for 2018 Show

Sunday, April 29, from noon to 4 p.m. is the last day for the guild's 2018 Quilt Show in the Heritage Park Carriage House Hall. Additional information including directions is available on the Quilt Show page.

Also watch the blacksmiths at work in the blacksmith shop next door in the Carriage House on Sunday.

On Sunday all bazaar items are 1/2 price, unless marked!

Jewel of the Nile
Children's Wonky Round Robin
One of the seven categories in the Show is Round Robin. The theme for this year is "The Children's Wonky Round Robin". The focus block and fabrics were suitable for children. The focus block remained off center as 2 to 4 but not even sides were added. A complete description of the process is provided with the display of the six colorful, imaginative quilts.

The entryway and hallway have a beautiful display of quilts by Kathy Mallory, the Quilt Show’s featured quilter. The Jewel of the Nile is one of them. Last weekend the Midland Daily News featured an article about Kathy -  Quilters Squared highlights Mallory's masterpieces.

Viewers enjoying the Show

The Quilt Show continues Saturday and Sunday, April 28 and April 29 at the Heritage Park Carriage House Hall. Directions, admission and additional information is available on the Quilt Show page.

Mystery category quilts

The quilts along this row are part of the mystery quilt category. Participants didn't know what the final design would look like. They were given fabric suggestions and each month the coordinator provided another step to complete. Even though a similar block was used, the quilts can look so different due to fabric, background and border variations.

Other categories include the Board Game Challenge, Round Robin, Large, Lap/Twin, Miniature/Wall, and Miscellaneous.

The red and white quilt is one of the last pieces that Carol Bornsheuer at 87 and a long time guild member worked on before she passed away in 2017. It was completed by Leslie Peterson at the family's request. (photo on the right)
